Wendell,
I am very curious what the photo (attached) at the head of the Land Surveying and related topics forum is showing me. It has been something that I have to stop and study every time I log in.
Are those surveyors or just a stock photo with guys wearing hardhats, backpacks & safety vests?
I see a what appears to be four a legged tripod (quadpod?) with huge legs with what might be a scanner on top of it but I can't figure out what these guys are doing. I've been a Land Surveyor for a long time and this group of guys appear to be doing something that I have never witnessed.
Help me Wendell!

Maybe a GNSS CORS station on a https://kb.unavco.org/article/deep-drilled-braced-monument-overview-300.html
It's just an AI generated image. I didn't put much time into it. I'd be happy to consider member-submitted photos, but the subject matter would have to fit into that odd aspect ratio.
Thanks Wendell.
Keep up the great work.

Sorry, guys who must wear hard hats routinely, but I always get a chuckle from scenes of surveyors in wide-open locations wearing hard hats. A little bird poop once in awhile is all I can visualize necessitating the hard hat. Yes, I have worn hard hats when it was a client requirement to be on their property.
@holy-cow I was going to suggest that the two guys in the yellow Forest Service Fire Fighting looking jackets are inspectors. Inspectors leave, brain-buckets come off.
It can't be legit. Not one guy is pointing with a set of rolled up plans under his arm.
Historic boundaries and conservation efforts.
