Yeah, this is a bit of a conundrum for me. I know that a lot of legit folks use VPNs, but the bad guys also exploit them quite frequently. I've implemented some security recently at Cloudflare, and it does block a lot of VPN services that are known for hosting a lot of bad actors. Can you tell me which VPN service you are using?
I'm just using what was included with McAfee.
It's no big deal for me, just noticed the change.
@gary_g McAfee is a little shady in my book, so it all makes sense now. 😉
What would you recommend?
@gary_g For firewall and antivirus, the built-in Windows Defender is great. I don't use any third-party security. I'm just careful about the sites I visit, the emails I trust, and the links I click on. Most of those security softwares are resource hogs and really aren't any better than what Windows ships with. As long as you are keeping Windows updated and you use common sense, you are pretty safe. 😊 And for what it's worth, I consider Norton and McAfee to be the worst of the bunch. It's sad because Norton used to be so good.
As for VPN, I use Proton products for email, calendar, storage, VPN and some other products from them. They are most known for their encrypted email service, which is what got me started with them. https://pr.tn/ref/5MWPSRQGJJS0 (affiliate link)
@wendell Thanks ! I have Windows Defender running and will look into Proton.
I did notice that if I leave Chrome up with the website loaded, the next morning when I open up laptop the VPN is on and the site still works.
