Tsc7 keypad and membrane replacement
Hello everyone,
I recently had a freak accident in the woods where a dead tree broke above me and unfortunately fell on my tsc7 instead of me…. everything is still working fine but the direction pad was ripped right off and the membrane between the keypad also damaged. Now I’m worried about water getting in if it starts raining on me.
My project manager emailed our supplier about the part but they usually charge a ridiculous markup, so I’ve been trying to find parts elsewhere and also looking for a video of a replacement. Basically nothing coming up on Google.
Any suggestions?

You can’t purchase the parts due to the Trimble strangle hold on their distributor and repair network. They literally will drop them and even file legal actions, it’s very much like Roundup corn and Monsanto or Ada or whomever they’re branding as the official company.
This repair would be covered by their yearly fee(aka extortion) to get the Trimble care or whatever they’re calling it now.
Forcing people to participate is borderline anti trust, but they’re the biggest kid on the block and basically make their own rules.
I’m Leica now, and they’re something similar but different.
Buying dead parts only model is probably the best option you’re going to find for money saved, otherwise insurance claims can ruin the ROI in the long run.

Prob chinese sellers best option next to devices sold as broken parts on Ebay? Everything is made in Chyyyyyna anyways. Yeah yeah, for the most part Sweden and Switzerland for the stuff that counts.

Well it will be going back to our supplier for an extremely overpriced repair once we have an extra one available from a coworker doing a 14 day on/off job… obviously they won’t give us or anyone repair parts. They are as good as apple when it comes to the right to repair. If it was up to me we wouldn’t give Trimble a dime of our $ but it’s not my choice.
Trimble owns our stuff even if we paid them $12,000 for the privilege of using it. Lol. It’s pretty sad what these crooks get away with.

Sorry if I come across a bit harsh and I know it’s not my $ but I think for the extremely insane prices they charge, they should treat us a little better. Came back here while I leave the tsc7 inside the air conditioning since it fails to respond to the keyboard at all now and the screen feels very hot. I’m going to take the Mesa 2 from our office which is no longer used, for when the environment is too harsh for the tsc7. No keyboard but it doesn’t always work on the tsc7 anyway and it’s much more difficult to bring up the windows keyboard when it’s set up for a physical keyboard.
More and more I’m wishing I was successful in convincing them to get the radio for the Panasonic to work with the Trimble s series.
Do any of you follow the “right to repair” movement? If you did you might understand how I’m feeling about this.
