Trimble Business Center
Posted by true-corner on July 19, 2019 at 3:07 amI’ve been using Trimble 4700’s & 5800’s with TSC-2’s Running Survey Controller 12.50. I post process with TBC 2.87, do latest versions of TBC run the legacy receivers? Thanks.

Man do I miss those 4700’s they were amazing, small and bulletproof!! I still think the TSC-1 had some great programming that has never been copied.

You sure you don’t mean the TSC2. The TSC1 hardly had any memory. The TSC2 i use to have had over five years of projects in it and still had tons of memory. I don’t ever remember it locking up. Even my TSC3 locks up now and then.
I still have the TSC1. You can’t give them away. I will agree the 4700 were nice instruments, but GLONASS is so much better, I would never go back.

I do a lot of static surveys, and use 2 4700’s and 2 5700’s for that. Perfect, and don’t worry as much about one disappearing if I leave it unattended. Also have 2 R8’s and 2 R10’s that are used for RTK and VRS (and static).

I packed 4700’s around for 18 YEARS!! Worked good and they still work. I WON’T use them any more. I work with another surveyor some and he likes them and uses them when he needs extra equipment (he has several employees). I told him I don’t won’t them back as I’m to old and tired to pack them up the mountains anymore, did I say I packed them for 18 years. I now use an R10 which I bought to extend my career a few more years. It’s not as heavy and works a lot better.
