TGO another Win7 problem?
“Could not find file HBG03.ggf”
Hi,
I’m installing TGO on my Win7 computer …
using the guidelines of Scott Partridge and Glen Borkenhagen.All went fine and I was able to start TGO, start a new project choose the Belgium coördiante system with the Geoïde and shift grid file …
To be able to import and convert our Trimble Access Jobs I had to install the Trimble Access Installation Manager to update the office software…
Once this step is completed and rebooting, running TGO and setting up a new project I got a message “Could not find file HBG03.ggf” same for the shift grid file.
When I open Coördinate System Manager” all files are there, doublechecked in explorer, all files are there just as before.
Tried with different files but TGO can’t locate any of the geoide and shift grid files on my win7 pc.I did not update my XP machine … want to keep on working on this one.
Anyone with the same problem, anyone a clue where to start looking.I’ve been browsing the register with regedit for some bad paths …
Where are these files located on a TBC installation?? Could it be pointing to the wrong TBC place. (No TBC installed on the Win7 pc)Is there a way to upgrade the converters without using Trimble Access Installation Manager??

Both TGO and TBC use the same coordinate manager. I checked on my computer and the file HBG03.ggf is located in the following directory on my computer:
C:Program Files(x86)Common FilesTrimbleGeoDataI don’t use Trimble Access so I don’t have any experience with that.

Not sure if you work in an environment where privileges are important, but I would check the permissions of the folder that contains your .csd file.
That failing, I would try a save as of your .csd file, then copy and replace.Privileges are not an issue I think,
I did not install in the usual program files but I created a new folder for installing older XP programs C:XP Programs… so all installation files go in there, eve the Common FilesTrimble…thanks anyway,

finally got it up and running …
got a tip from our Trimble dealer and the suggestion from Scott P. finally set me on the right path.
solution was posted on rpls.com
a cut and paste … in case someone else got the same trouble …Scott’s tip
Shot number 1:
Go into Coordinate System Manager and click on the Geoid Model tab. You should see HBG03 (Belgium) listed. If not, click on the VIEW pull down menu and enable display of Hidden Records. It may be a hidden record.
If now you see HBG03 listed, right click on the geoid model name. You will see the option Hide with a check mark to the left of it. Click on this option to unhide the geoid model in CSM.
Click on FILE > SAVE to save the state of the current.csd file. The HBG03 geoid should now be available to TGO.
Shot number 2:
In CSM click on VIEW > Options. Make sure that the directory is set to the Geodata folder where the GGF files are stored.

and How I had to do it …
No files were hidden and they were in right location but…
when I started the installation I did not want to install under Program Files because of the access rights
So I did a custom install in C:XP ProgramsTrimble…
I also have C:XP ProgramsCommon FilesTrimbleGeoData …after the usual install and updates this worked, I could start a new project and select the files, it worked but I couldn’t import our recent job format.
So I needed to upgrade the converters for Trimble Access using the Trimble Access Installation Manager. (There is now a separate download for updating the office software without TAIM, but It gave the same result)
after this step TGO can’t locate the files, but they are in C:XP ProgramsCommon FilesTrimbleGeoData … (So no way to start a new project and choosing the Belgium coordiante system)Our Trimble dealer was also of any help and suggested to also create the TBCTGO directory under
C:ProgramDataTrimbleGeoDataI did but didn’t know you could set the path in CSD – VIEW > Options … as you described.
I now have the path set to look in C:ProgramDataTrimbleGeoData and this works !!!
After some testing I went back to CSD and did reset the path back to C:XP ProgramsCommon FilesTrimbleGeoData and that keeps working !!
Odd situation … I guess I made it myself a little difficult with the custom setup, it looks as the last TAIM-update screwed the custom path setting.Glad I got it up and running on this machine …
