Tax break bill includes selling broadcast spectrum

Besides increasing new federal workers’ pension contributions, more savings were supposed to come from government sales of parts of the broadcast spectrum to wireless companies. The spectrum auction was supposed to raise about $15 billion — even after $7 billion would be spent for a new communications network for emergency workers.Does this mean it’s just the beginning of the end or no worries?

Some or most of this spectrum is from the analogue television band that was freed up after the digital transition a few years ago. Not the same threat that LightSquared was proposing.
