Surveyor – Welding – Knick Knack – Poll
Probably the wrong thing to call it but anyway. Lana’s son has been making this type of art thru his welding. He is a mechanical engineer and does this as a hobby. The pic shown is one he did for us since I love to fish. It was his first sale of 2012.
My question to allya’ll (yes real word) would you be interested in one that depicts a surveyor behind a level, EDM or a static GPS set up? I’m sure if there are other idea’s he could create one.

He is currently working on a Kayak thingy someone else ordered but we have also ordered one.
Let me know what you think. If there is enough interest then I will pass on the info to him and so forth and so on.

I think it would be cool to have one that depicts something like: http://yourotherleftcomic.com/2012/01/30/too-close-for-comfort/ but further apart. So instead of a round base, maybe a narrow rectangular base.

Pretty good stuff there. It could also morph into a cue stick holder.
Many years ago a friend gave me this. A welder artist kind of person in Pennsylvania makes these, and I think it’s awesome. It’s just a RR spike, a few rods, nuts, bolts and a lot of imagination. I think most any surveyor would like one on their bookshelf… I know I do.

That is very cool Grant! I’ve also got a little baby cone I keep next to it. You know, just in case a match box car or some Barbie & Ken Jeep goes wild….

RR spikes, a forge, anvil, chisels and a hammer are used for some neat stuff. Bolts, nuts and rods with a welder does the same but I prefer the forge work myself and I weld. Picking up Grandads forge from the Athena Ranch this spring, it is one with a handle rigged to spin the fan and the leather needs replacing. Plan on using it later this year, but I will be playing and learning but I have no artistic talent.
judWelder is a toy that has always escaped and not found its way into my toy chest.

I think you do have artistic talent and you will find it as you are playing around and learning. It my not be like someone else’s, but you will find it!
