Skype or ?? for Android

I have Skype but not used as phone, on my phone.
I once uninstalled after latest was dodgy.
I found an older install via Google.
I have 5.4.0.5871 on my tablet and that works well.
Hunt around and you may be able to download an older version if latest doesn’t cooperate.

3 years ago I did use it to call Australia from Hawaii.
That did work okay.

The Samsung lady turned me on to Tango, it will create a list from your contacts that have it installed and set to be viewed.

SWMBO uses SKYPE to video chat with her relatives on her Galaxy Note 4 with great success.

Both take a good 4G signal and a phone with a very fast processor.

I don’t use either, nobody wants to see my mug on their phone……

I use skype on my phone, tablet and on my pc to communicate with my professors. No problems so far. But mainly on the pc and just voice.

John I’d try the latest and see how you go.
If you get it off Google Play Store you can tick reviews from ‘latest’ also ‘your device only’.
See what others say, but trying it yourself is best.
Remember video Skype eats into data. Skype only okay.

I use Facebook Messenger to make free calls on Wifi. It works pretty good for me.

If and when I install Skype I plan to only use it when I have WiFi available. If I use it in that way, am I correct that it won’t “eat into data”?

I looked at a lot of the reviews on Google Play and the recurring theme was that the newer releases of Skype were pretty buggy.

Look into Google’s Hangouts app.
I think that it will do what you are looking for.

Yes if WiFi then that’s not phone (carrier plan) data.
I just found this and while it looks okay still needs vetting.
It appears to have a heap of earlier versions.
