When I was around 14 – graduating High School I was operating a sheep’s foot roller, scraper early on. Moved up to a dozer, excavator motor grader. Anyway I took out some centerline stakes on the sheeps foot roller because i had become board under the monotonous of riding up and down the road bed. I learned a valuable lesson. at 25 to 50 cents a stake that added up for a boy making extra money in the summers. Charge them for every re stake sooner or later the site foreman will charge the operators or cut them lose thats when it will stop.
