Request for GPS data Florida
Hi all. New user here, I post a request from another forum where a member told me about SurveyorConnect. Here goes:
Does anyone have access to 1-second GNSS (GPS and GLONASS) from the area around north Miami Beach for the 4th of September this year?
The reason I ask is that we did an aerial survey there, and I am having trouble getting a good GPS solution using the CORS sites ZMA1 and LAUD as they only log GPS data. I would be extremely greatful if anyone has or know someone who has access to some data, or just pointers on where I could search.thanks

You might want to call this guy with FDOT. He was able to give me some of their CORS data from last month.

FDOT isn’t set up with GLONASS yet, just GPS at the moment. They are working on it.

They are correct above that FDOT does not provide Glonass. You could try the corporate providers, like EGPS.net or Lengemann’s LNET, to see if they’d sell you a days worth of RINEX a la carte.

Consider it in the future.
What I do not understand is you have data from 2 nearby CORS and cannot get good solutions. It is highly unlikely in aerial work to have obstructions. Exactly how bad is your data?

Trimble Has A GPS/GLONASS VRS In Florida
It’s not useless, but since it’s for a demo job with hope of sales I would like it to be a bit better. We do hydrographic lidar equipment with very high accuracy, post processed GPS and military grade IMU for trajectories, GPS reference station not more than 30 km away during the entire flight etc etc. The day of the flight there were a few lines with visible nav problems and the day after we re-flew them but then the conditions in the water had declined.

Are You Not Using A GPS/GLONASS Mobile Base ?
I thought it was SOP for aerial surveyors to set up a local base to match their aerial equipment. With all the costs of flying and the aerial equipment an on ground base matching your aerial receivers is very cheap insurance. Setting up a base within or near the flight area and making a much longer static observation than the flight time allows very precise fixing of the base from CORS stations that are much farther away if neccessary.
Were I doing it I would be using Ashtech equipment with Z-Blade technology. Z-Blade includes L1 SBAS signals to get ranging to additional sattelites. Because SBAS sattelites (WAAS, EGNOS) are practicaly in a fixed position, solutions can be more quickly resolved. There are or will GLONASS and Compass SBAS satellites.
