RE: Shop Talk, Box tapes, Suunto Compass, hand tools etc
Corn tripod. It can extend to around very tall, to “see over corn”. It’s a Dutch Hill brand.
I’d have to measure it, but I’d guess it can extend to around 7.5 or 8 ft.
“Corn tripod”. This was a common expression, back pre GPS. It’s probably fallen into disuse, due to GPS.
If any of you like, I can put a couple of pics up.
If you have a base station near an obstruction, or somebody parks their truck near your base site, it gives you up to 2 feet extra height, or about that much.
It can reduce or eliminate multipath, at the base.
It can help, when the city puts a chain link fence up, near your base point, (which can ruin a good base site). Of course, a piece of range pole can help too. But, they can get wobbly in wind.
Thanks for asking.
Now I’m thinking…. Add range pole to this thing, and maybe get an HI of 10 ft! Yeah!
