PLSS Township
Posted by loyal on January 15, 2016 at 4:18 amI came across this Township tonight while researching a nearby Township.
How much to retrace this puppy?
1 Section, 1 Lot, 7.75 acres = ONE TOWNSHIP!.

B-)Are you? Retracing it?
Looks like fun, some closing corners, couple of mile markers, standard parallel.
Is that the best copy or a bad scan?

Sometimes these little odd sections can have the best information or even monumentation because they were dealt with individually.

Mighty,
Utah BLM data on the Internet is (for the most part), scans of old microfiche. This one is not the sharpest tool, in a rather dull shed.
Yep, Section 31.
Nope, not this Township.

Will asume its sec. 31.
Very difficult to say. This is like going to the doctor with a lump and asking how much the operation is going to be. The doctor would say test, test, test and after the test, only an educate guess until I operate. The same with surveyors, when the research is done you can give an educated guess, and a lot of times its more of a guess then educated.
Just from the plat and assume all the corners are found. Retrace the exterior and retrace from the 82 MP to the 1/2 MP. This is a minimum, made without field notes and any research and could change wildly after your research and on the ground work.
GOOD LUCK -
simple right triangle. Can’t you just do the math and intersect the lines?…duh! 😀

Piece of cake for an old hand like you Loyal.
The trick is getting paid for all work required for a proper retracement.

At least you won’t need to set the Center of Section.

The 7.75 Ac. refers to Lot 1 (the only lot) in Section 31.

Yes 31, I missread Loyal’s post; had in my mind he was saying it was Lot 1 of a Section 1. My mental dyslexia at work.
Not sure why they didn’t just add that Lot to Section 36 in the next township, there is probably a good reason. The reservation boundary clipped a lot of land if it takes out the rest of the township

As long as you do the work before you do the math it should be fun;^)

Check Master Title Plat(s)? What is history of patents/entry in that area?
