Lightsquared Lives Again…
Lightsquared is emerging from bankruptcy and is moving forward with their network in their L-band spectrum range.
The new Lightsquared is led by a former CEO of Verizon and a former FCC head.Trimble and Garmin (along with Deere) have just signed agreements not to object to the re-started project (they had been sued by Lightsquared).
Lightsquared is proposing using a section of the band that is farther away from the GPS spectrum.Hope the GPS industry is not selling existing users short, and allowing interference on existing GPS units.

Lightsquared has re-branded as Ligado Networks LLC.
They are making plans to move forward with a mid-spectrum implementation for their network. -

The did give up on the upper (above 1536MHz) part of the MSS band in question.
Very old or low precision gear will likely not like the signals below 1536MHz but thank heavens the first wave was averted; that would have been the whole ugly banana…
