Laying out radius?
What does it mean to layout a 25′ radius for a roadway intersecting another roadway. Is the 25′ the length of the arc or a point 25′ from both the start and stop of the radius? Thanks for your help, obviously not a surveyor but new to construction

The 25′ only signifies the length of the radius (from the center point to any point on the arc). In laying it out, You probably would points on the arc and offset those points an agreed-upon distance that the construction crew can use. You need the beginning and end of the arc and points along the arc which spacing is agreed to in advance.

If you have a stake with the lath marked “25′ R.Pt.” then that is the radius point and you need to pull over 25′ to set points on the arc. Usually I would stake the begin and end of the curve then the carpenters laying out the forms would pull in additional points on the arc as needed to make the curb return or whatever it is you are building.

I would assume that they meant the rounding intersection radius, like in this picture but replace the R=30.00′ with 25.00′
