Here is a complete 300 system with the 9500 sensor. The system you have shown is missing a tribrack, the attachment to put the antenna on the tribrack and the height hook. The battery is missing it is a geb71 it is a 7 amp hour nicad battery, known as the red brick. It needs two cables, one from the battery to the sensor and one from the Hand Controller to the sensor. It also needs one antenna cable to the sensor. The little green box in your photograph is a connection box that is not required to operate the system. It is occupying the cutout for the tribrack. the height hook is to get the antenna height. Try to find some sales literature for the 300 system, you should be able to google some of that stuff.

Gosh, that brings back memories!
A first class outfit in it’s day (late 1990’s). All I would add to Jerry’s comments is to look for a working PC card in the back of the controller. Early ones had internal batteries which may now be dead. And Jerry, your kit looks like it has earned a lot more money than the one in the OP. 😛

ok, in short, the photo I post will just be wanting:
1. – Geb 71 battery, called the red brick
2. – Job card for the controller
3. – The tribrach… it???:-O :-O
ok, resumiendo, al de la foto que posteo solo le faltaria:
1.- la batería geb 71, llamada el ladrillo rojo
2.- la tarjeta de trabajo para el controlador
3.- la base nivelante…es asi???:-O :-O

The round thing that holds the antenna to the tribrach.
SkiPro (software)
Another unit.
Height hook.It was a solid setup, the best in it’s day.

The top image shows a part of a page from the Leica 300 starters manual. It shows the connection of the antenna to the tribrack, this shows the antenna to tribrack adapter. The photograph that you posted does not show this adapter, it does not show the height hook either, this is shown in the image above. These items must be accounted for to have the correct height reported to the software.
The second image above has the actual parts mounted on the tripod. Note, this is very important, it must be a Leica Tripod. The attaching screw knob on other tripods are too long and doesn’t allow the height hook to be attached as show above. The tribrack does not have to be Leica but the Tripod must be to use the Height Hook.
The memory cards for the CR344 must be PCMCIA cards and can be up to 32 Meg capacity. It will not use more than 32 Meg. They can be SDRAMcards or Flash Cards. Some folks have reported they use the Compact Flash with a PCMCIA adapter. I have tried this several times and have had about as much bad luck with them as good luck. So, I have restricted myself to full size PCMCIA cards. Back in it’s day a 2 meg card was a high capacity card. Of course you will need a PCMCIA card reader, the best of the bunch I think is the Omni Drive it will read SDRAM or FlashRam. It is expensive, I think about four years ago, mine was over $400. I think you can also download with a serial cable from Leica.
Of course you will need software to process the file from the Leica 300 system. It is L1 and L2 information. You might be able to get the machine file out of the CR344 and get TEAQ to convert it to Rinex. I suppose you can import the Rinex to about any gps processing software. The Leica software is expensive and is protected by a software lock that you need a key on the Parallel port or a USB hardware key for the Leica processing software.
What equipment that is shown in the photograph you posted is a minor portion of the gear needed to use the 300 system. You would need to make sure the stuff in the box is functional that will take another system that is complete and use it’s accessories to check the one in the box or have somebody else do it for you.
Good Luck you have a task in front of you.

Does the CR344 controller start up?
If it comes up with an error code 1165, the on-board lithium battery is exhausted.
It may be able to be replaced, but Leica support centers do not have the installation software any more. So they can’t be repaired. That’s what I was told. Are you planning to use it for static observations only? RTK needs two units, and MODEMS, antennas…
And how do you plan on downloading the data? There was a cable to download to a serial port on a computer, or a card reader option. SKI or SKI-PRO software is needed to utilize or process the data.
