Help! Carlson point attributes are blocked. How do I separate them?
In C&G 8, I could click on point attributes and move them around for legibility. It was really helpful having point number, description, elevation and the symbol all separate. Carlson 2016 plots everything as blocks, though. The “X” for the point, description, etc – I can turn off layers and hide part of the block but I cannot move pieces of it independent of the others. Is there a setting that will let me shove the description off to one side without moving the “X” or am I stuck plotting things tiny on the screen to avoid clutter?

control + A turns groups on or off I believe thats what you are looking for

Move label with leader in the points menu

Settings drop-down menu > Carlson Settings || Click “General Settings” in the pop-up window || Once in the General Settings window, look towards the upper middle for the section titled “Object Linking,” and look for the second-to-last option, “Group Point Entities.” Uncheck the box and you should be good to go.

Type movepnt, that command allows you to move an attribute independently and rotate. movepntleader will move all point attributes for one point with a leader.

go to points pull down.
Go down to the yellow 4 arrow thing, move point attributes, single. now, they will move, separately.Carlson 2009 user.

Lots of good suggestions. I followed the first one. Grips are displayed for each component of the overall point block. Works for me! Thanks folks.
