In May of 2005, some of the old GLO/BLM cadastral surveyors did a presentaion in Phoenix of “The Methods Used Pertaining To How They Performed Their Field Surveys” using chains, solar compasses, and solar transits. Some of the names I can recall doing this were: Jerry Knight, Jerry Wahl, Dale Wilson, and Don ?? and some others. The name Don Beck kind of rings a bell in the back of my mind as maybe being the one being there. I have some pictures that were taken of the event and could send you a copy of the ones that had some of these guys I named that were there. The Don that was there was operating the Solar Transit and Jerry Wahl, the Solar Compass.

The Donald Beck that did several Surveys in 1970 is listed as Donald R. Beck.

My memory must be going. I looked in my 2005 work diary and see that it was on January 22, 2005 that the event was held, not in May as stated originally.
