Substitute the words “survey plat” in place of “term paper”.
Substitute the words “the roads” in place of “school”.

A couple of weeks ago my son goofed off all afternoon and evening, then completed and submitted a college application 19 minutes prior to the midnight deadline.

For some it’s the way we do things.
And others have one very difficult time accepting that, despite knowing it Will Be Done On Time.
I live with that and still seem to meet the deadline.
It’s all about timing.
In truth, whilst it’s annoying to some, if something has to be done by a certain time and it is then is that a problem? Even when it’s 2 strokes before the deadline! -

I have always been cursed with punctuality. If I am not where I am supposed to be at least 10 minutes early, I consider myself “late”.
Note: The above does not apply to visits to the Doctors office.

FL/GA,
You grew up in the same environment as my wife, just a couple thousand miles apart. Her motto is that if you arrive thirty minutes early you are on time but if you arrive on time you are late.
As for me, on time plus ten minutes is just pretty doggone good.

That’s me too – was never on time for anything in my life before I met my wife – always early. I once was stopped by an officer and issued a warning for excessive speed – still arrived at the dentist’s office early!

BTW, Jeremy in the comic above is following us on his smartphone. Anything to keep him from actually doing what he is supposed to be doing. Like me, right now. And you.

My wife and in-laws are always exactly 20 minutes late. It is like they have their own personal time zone.
I always strive for 5 minutes early.
As for smart phones etc, you’re not going to beat them so you have to join them. Our son’s JHS Spanish teacher has incorporated a learning app as part of the curriculum. So he spends time enhancing his studies.
But it means that he has access to his phone to be more involved with friends on Instagram, snapchat, texting, FaceTime etc. plus some game apps.
No tweets or FB accounts for him.
He was only taking his phone to school on days when he has extracurricular stuff to arrange scheduling for rides. -
I try to be punctual. What really steams me is when I get somewhere a few minutes before the appointed time and find I’m late, because others already have started the meeting or whatever activity.
