1889 Missouri River Commission triangulation monument
It is always a thrill to find one of these caps still in place. They are cast iron and measure 5.5″ in diameter and placed on an iron pipe which is over an 18″ square stone monument. This one is in south central South Dakota and recovered on Christmas Day.

Amazing condition on the mark and RM. I’m surprised it hasn’t at least been nicked by a disc or a hay rake.
