1 Jan 2016: Some Trimble Receivers Not Tracking GLONASS
Heads Up. This is not factory confirmed, just my observations at this point:
It appears to me (and a compatriot, Pavel in Europe) that GPS equipment based on the BD970 and BD930 GNSS engines with ‘newer’ GNSS firmware are not tracking GLONASS this morning. We have verified this both in Europe and the USA this morning. It appears that downgrading device firmware to V4.85 resolves the issue.
We have verified it on several network receivers world wide. You can check these:

http://www.bd930.com
http://www.bd970.comWhich are located in Colorado and (at this moment) are tracking no GLONASS.
We have verified that NovAtel, Ashtech and TopCon have no issues. Will be checking SP80’s in a moment (I actually came to the office this morning over this.)
Since the Spectra Epochs and ProMark 700’s are based on these boards, I assume that they may be affected. Again, it depends on the GNSS Firmware version.
I can’t find anything using Google searches confirming this, nor have I been able to reach my normal contacts because of the Holiday timing.
Again, this is just a heads-up. I don’t have any firm information other than a dozen receivers located around the country.

Is there a way to fix a thread title? Crude, it will take me 3-months to get into the new year. That is the trouble with getting old, hard to change.

That’s ok Mark. It’s an old problem. Probably won’t go away soon. I forget how long into the new year, the old date lasts, but from what I cam remember, it’s about 3-6 months!

Same here with SPS855 firmware 5.03
The table shows it tracking one GLONASS satellite at a time strangely.

Yes, but if you watch for a moment, it will dump the single GLN SV and then after 30 seconds start tracking again.
If you choose to downgrade, after the receiver restarts you will need to wait 5+ minutes and the GLN tracking will start up. It takes a moment. (I have downgraded about 10 receivers so far this morning and all have taken a while to track.)

Yes it is tracking satellites for a minute and then giving up.
We’re not working till Monday so I will re-check over the weekend and downgrade then if necessary. -

All of these systems have started tracking GLONASS again, on their own. Without doing anything. After not tracking GLONASS for hours.

Hey Mark,
You’re one of the only people who seemed to notice the issue, it appeared to persist for a 24h period from 00:00 UTC+3 on 2016.01.01 until 00:00 UTC+3 on 2016.01.02 (roughly 1.5 hours ago).
It appears to have been an incorrect day value in the almanac that the constellation was broadcasting.

Thanks for posting none the less. I checked my epoch 50 earlier and it wasn’t tracking them either.
